Okay, so it's been a while since I've done one of these, but I wanted to show my friend how I set up this roll call that I have set up already every single Sunday at 5:00 p.m. So, if you want us to do something, the goal of this is to actually text your friends and get a roll call or ask them for the weekly picture updates. This is how we use it. So, I want to run at a time of day. And this time, you can pick a time of day. Ours is at 5:00. I let's say I want to do sunset at sunset. And I don't want to do it daily. I want to do it weekly just on Sundays. So, I unselect all of these. When you're creating it, you can have it run immediately if you want it to happen to you with no action needed. Or you can run after confirmation. If you want this to just run always, you could notify yourself or not and just run it immediately. This would happen without you having to do anything. I'm going to create a new shortcut, and it's going to be send a message. I'm going to say Sunday roll call, send this week's pictures and updates. And in this, I'm just going to send it to test. Or you can type in any single contact. The only thing is you can't do named group texts. So, you can't have anything that you have as a named one. So, let's see who I have. Demo contact one, two, three. I'll send it to demo contact three. You can have it sent to multiple.
You could do it in a group text, but if you see you can't like type a name of a group text. It only, at least now, pulls contacts. But I could have it do it to both of these contacts every Sunday. So, I press okay. This is going to run automatically without confirming. Right now, I have mine run with confirmation. You can see it here at Sunday, and it it it does run after confirmation. Thank you. Thank you.

I don't know if you saw my last video, but I had Instagram and Tik Tok grayed out. It was totally quick, so all good if you didn't see it, but wanted to kind of talk about how I got there or why it was grayed out. So, here, if you go to your settings, you can just scroll down a little bit till you get to screen time. What you see here is your daily average, and you can actually set down time. What I'm going to talk about today is app limits. So, you can set limits for apps. I already have this on. If you didn't have it on, you could turn it on and set a passcode for it. And I have appliments on for Instagram and Tik Tok. It's 18 minutes every day. That's a combined total for these two apps. If I click into it, I have to enter my screen time passcode, but I can actually change that. Let's go 17 minutes a day. Um, you could customize days if you wanted it to only be um during the weekdays or during the weekend. Totally fine. And you can see there's Instagram and Tik Tok. If I actually click in, I could look at adding more. Let's say I wanted to add threads. Um, maybe I'm using threads to kind of get online. I don't want to. That's totally fine. I'll add that in there as well. And now between all three of these apps, I get 17 minutes a day. If I was done with that and I wanted to delete it, I totally can delete it as well. But this will limit my screen time usage every day. So if I click out of this, let's get out of it. Now you can see I have Instagram and Tik Tok grayed out. If I try to click it, it says I've reached my time limit. I could ask for more time or I could just say, "You're right. Let me get off my phone and stop being logged in and be stop being on my

something that I feel like has changed a lot since I first got my iPhone. I used to have pages and pages and pages of apps and now I really like the update. It's been kind of old, but just to have one homepage and then everything else lives in buckets in my app library. To be honest, I like to have it clean. I like to have some fun apps like All Trails, depending on the season. Um, I like to change that out, see what I'm going to use. And if I ever need to find an app, I just always pull down and you can kind of get different um searches or different items here and just search for the app. If I want to open a certain app, I can just type it in right here and it'll pull right up.

Here I want to walk through keyboard shortcuts. So you go to general and go all the way down to keyboards in your settings. And this texture license is really nice. It comes with a few delivered. I think I added a few. Uh sometimes if I have a common typo, I just have it auto correct. It always it corrects no to now. Um for example, but if I type no, it does change it to now. You can see there's some default ones. Um what a good one is that I was talking with my mom about is what you can do. If I edit one, you can see the phrase is because and the shortcut is BC. Maybe you have an email. So if I want techt katie,
every time I type ttk, it would populate techtutor katiegmail.com. So that's a good shortcut. If you want to have it be your email, you can kind of shorthand it and it will auto replace

The other day I decided that I really just didn't want my phone to vibrate anymore when it was on silent. I don't ever really have my ringer on, but I am trying to use my phone less. So, trying to figure out how to make it stop vibrating so I just maybe look at it less. So, I started by going to my settings and going to my sound and haptics. Um, how I did it is you actually turn text tone off and everything off. I thought maybe I could turn my haptics off for everything like don't play in silent mode. Um I actually still want my phone to ring or vibrate when I do have it on silent. So this actually enabled it or disabled it so it never ever vibrated. Um not for calls, not for texts, nothing. So if I set this to always play, this just has a vibration setup, but it only is set up for when someone calls me. The rest of the items are blocked. So we'll see how it goes. But so far, I've really enjoyed not getting any vibrations except for just for calls.

I wanted a shortcut that helped me connect with my friends even more. So, I wanted it to kind of randomize who I called for the week. I don't know if I really got it to work and I kind of got distracted. So, I thought I would build it again and I thought I would just build it while I was showing it here. So, what I'm going to do is call it new shortcut. We're going to call it keeping in touch. And what we're going to do is we're going to set a random number and we're going to do between one and three because I have three test contacts to share. Um, but once we do that, we're then we're going to do an if number is one call.
Put who I'm calling. So, let's shortcut. No, I don't want that. Cancel. No.
Exit number one call
it
I want the variable to be a contact.
I want to set the contact here. demo. I have a demo contact. Let's just see what happens if I do call
Avery. This Avery demo contact one. Oh, I didn't say phone numbers for them. So, that would help. Let me go keeping in touch. Understandable. Failed. If random number was one, call instead of Avery. Let's do demo contact. So now it works. Drop that there. And then otherwise let's throw another if in here.
I can drop this if otherwise
if rand number is two. Let's see. I can just copy this duplicate. left that not there. We're going to drag it down here because I want friend numbers two to contact demo contact two. And I'm only doing three. So it we're just going to have the third be the default. And so then we're going to call demo contact three
and if and if. So the goal is to set there a number between one and three. If the number is one, it'll call your contact one. If it's two, call your contact two. If it otherwise, meaning it's not one or two, it'll call your demo contact three. Now, the next step is throwing this into an automation. And so I'm thinking, hey, maybe when I we'll do Sundays, maybe um at sunset. Oh, I kind of like that at sunset weekly on Sundays. I like things that run after confirmations. I don't just run it automatically. But if that's true, we're going to run this keeping in touch. And so now at sunset on Sundays, it runs keeping in touch. It'll run this. I don't want it to actually call because these are random numbers, but it'll run it at sunset on Sundays. And that should be good. So we can test out.

was just tinkering around with my phone and I really hated that it would lock automatically and so I wanted to see if there's a way where I could have the option to set it up to not autolock. What I found is if you go to your settings and you scroll down to display and brightness, you actually can turn autolock on to never. What I really do like about this is you whenever you use low power mode, it actually overrides this and it will autolock. I think this is really helpful if you're ever handing your phone to someone, letting them look at it instead of just continuously opening it or giving them the password to your phone. And you can have it set to autolock as never.

One thing that I did within shortcuts is I wanted to do a protein log. So here's my shortcuts. I kind of copied the log water, but I wanted it to log protein. So I'm having it ask for a number. You can have different data types here. And the question it asks is how many grams of protein today. Here it grabs the current date. And it creates a text field that has the current date and then has ask for input. And then what it does is it appends that text field into a notes app. And it's just right here. You can see it on my home screen. It's protein log 12 235. Save. And it adds note app.

I've been using Google Maps for a long time and I love their functionality where you can save things to lists. Recently, I actually joined that or I noticed that you can actually save with like emoji or categorization within a list and I have been loving it. So, I'm planning a trip to San Diego soon. And what I'm doing here, you can see that I have a list of 127 places. Now, what you can do is you can save them with an extra tag. So, first of all, I tag them to San Diego, and then I can actually filter my San Diego list just on food, just on activities, just on cocktails. Um, what I actually like to do is just look up websites and end up saving things on Google Maps. So, if I'm going to San Diego, for example, I can find a restaurant that I want to go. I have old lists that I've saved that I've been getting a lot better with my Google Maps. So, let's say I wanted to save Mission Bay Park into my San Diego list. It's in my want to go list. I'm actually going to cut it out of there. I have a lot of lists here, but you can see I saved it to San Diego. And then I'm actually going to add in here's all my tags that I did create. I'm going to add activity for this one. Um, what you can do if you don't like these tags is you can actually edit tags. You can see you can do emojis for everyone as well as name them. I did Friday, Saturday. I did the days of the week because some days some of these places have events. So, I wanted to kind of save them based on that day. But, you can change the name or anything there. You do cap out at this number. I think it's maybe 10 or 15 that you cap out at somewhere between there. So, days leak wasn't probably my best use case, but it is really interesting and I've loved kind of exploring this more. I think it's really going to be helpful for the trip to kind of see if I'm in the mood for food or an activity and kind of what to do from there. I do save places I've been as well. So, you might see some of that on my map, but I think it's really helpful where this can be really overwhelming. You can actually even get to a more smaller list. I have five wineries saved, for example. What I also like is you can always save notes on the place. So you can see here if I scroll down, I have notes here and it says it has a rooftop, west facing sunset, stylish but casual Italian spot. So it's really great. I usually do this online and then on my phone I don't they don't have it on the online version yet to tag, but on my phone I go through and I actually make the tag. So this is my first time really going full-fledged, but I'm going to see what I do next. But just wanted to share this. Thank

I have been wanting to try shortcuts for a while on the iPhone. And the one that I was thinking about this weekend is I wanted to whenever I walked to my house, I wanted it to automatically connect to my Spotify. So, you can see this automation I have, it's when my iPhone joins my home Wi-Fi. I could have done when I have a certain address, when I reach my address, but I just did not want to join my Wi-Fi, it'll run this task. So, what I have here is if I go to my shortcuts, I can actually see this run. So I found a lot of things online and kind of merged them together to kind of get exactly what I want to have happen. So the first thing is it gets the current song. This is just to see if anything is currently playing. So if this has any value, meaning if the there is a song playing and this does work for Spotify, even though there is that Apple Music sign, it'll play or pause. Else it will open this playlist that I have on Spotify. I did a wait of 4 seconds just for Spotify to open. Then it will press play on iPhone. The default is play or pause and you can flip it to play. Then it gets out of this if because this is essentially a yes or no. There's not really any other ifs. Then I turn my Bluetooth on and I set my playback destination to my living room beam which is my Bluetooth speaker. So when I run this, whenever I enter my house, I can actually have it run. I do currently have it set up to prompt me run after confirmation. I could have it run immediately and have it run every time. I was just kind of in testing mode, so I wanted to see what happened. So, this now pops up whenever I drive my Wi-Fi for me to run this. And I just click run and my music automatically plays.
